Big Five game viewing without prophylactics
Madikwe Game Reserve is malaria free. No prophylactics are required, which makes it one of the few places in South Africa where you can see the Big Five with small children, elderly travellers or anyone who cannot take anti-malarials.
Combined with a four-hour drive from Johannesburg and a daily air shuttle from OR Tambo, it is the easiest Big Five reserve in the country to reach with a family.
Many of the lodges cater specifically to families, with family suites, child-appropriate meal times and shorter "bumble" drives for younger children.
